How Precious Life Is
It is so easy to go through the same routine each and every day of saying hi and bye to those we care so much for. But do we really value those we are so close to, or is it just a routine we get caught in b/c we have done it for so long. Having witnessed such a horrific accident today made me realize just how precious life is. I was a half mile from my house on my way to small group when i came up on what i thought was a minor traffic accident. I pulled my car over to the side of the road and got out to just look to see what happened. As i walked up to the scene i saw a motorcycle in pieces and gravel and dirt all over the roadway. I knew then that this was a serious situation. As I continued up the side of the road, I saw paramedics using a difibulator trying to bring life back into a man lying about 50 feet away from his motorcycle. I froze and my body began to get numb. When they stopped using the difibulator, a member of the family began doing CPR. He tried and tried, but the police kept pulling the man away telling him there was nothing else that could be done, but he wasn't willing to give up. This man didn't want this to be the end. He was doing all he could, but there was nothing else that could be done. Total shock ran through my body as I was witnessing this. I started thinking about so many relationships with friends that haven't really amounted to much , but really, meant so much more than just a hello or good-bye. Do we really mean it when we tell those we come in contact with " Hey, it's good to see you". Having seen what happened today made me check my own attitude about life and those that I'm around. We need to take everyday for granted b/c we aren't guarenteed another day. Show love and mean it. Be kind and thoughtful to those your around. Don't think that "Oh there is tomorrow". Make each and every day count. Allow God to be in control of your relationships, b/c life is to precious, and it's until we loose those we love, that we understand how precious life really is.
